Fundraising / Gratitude

Mindroom has come a long way in a very short time.
Of course we are driven by our clear and concise 2020 vision, but a vision is no good without friends who support it.

Graphic Partners, which includes *greenparka who have designed our website, have been with us from the beginning. They work with us for free and always with complete trust, endless generosity, not a little patience and great professionalism.

Graphic Partners, an award winning Edinburgh-based graphic design company, have designed all our printed material up to date, including our logo.

Thank you Graphic Partners and *greenparka we certainly couldn't have made it without you!

Thanks also to Capital Scanning (CapScan), the professional printing dynasty who do all our printing with such patience and grace.

We would also like to thank all our other generous benefactors, friends, trust funds, organisations and companies for getting us this far into our 2020 vision.

Thank you for everything from guidance, contacts, advice, professional help and economical support to west end musicals, jumble sales, Christmas fairs, wine tastings, marathons, half marathons, car rallies, bike rides and jumping out of airplanes.

Focus moves to Diagnostic Centres

Having hosted three major conferences in three years Mindroom is poised to start the second phase of its charitable work. It will now focus on founding and funding a series of diagnostic centres in the UK.

"We have a very clear vision of what we want to achieve " says founder Sophie Dow." The Mindroom centres will be ground breaking in that they will be multi-facetted. They will first and foremost have a clinical dimension and be staffed by a multi-professional team. This team will be able to assess and diagnose the child, or adult, within a matter of weeks, as opposed to years as is often the case now. Those years are lost years for both child and family"

" The first Mindroom Centre" she adds," will have research facilities as well as an education department."

" Last but not least, we want the building to match our vision. It will be a place that lifts your spirits and makes you feel great about who you are. We want people to think: ' I am  here to find out what I am good at - not what I'm not good at'."

The speed with which the Mindroom Centres can be realised relies partly on funding. Several businesses and individuals have already embraced the challenge.

Lifestyle Fitness , which runs some 40 fitness centres in England and Wales, adopted Mindroom as its chosen charity for 2006 and aims to raise £50,000 with fun runs, a charity ball in Durham , and collection boxes.

At the other end of the spectrum, a pub quiz in London recently raised £500, supporters in Australia donated £385, and Mindroom employee, Mig Coupe raised £1200 in her 36-hour Three Peaks Challenge.

Biking across the Hebrides

(into the wind)

Intrepid bikers and friends Mike Bowe and Greig Carnie planned to bike the 200 miles from the Butt of Lewis to Barra. However well meaning and informed friends advised them that, to take advantage of the prevailing wind, the trip should be from Barra to the Butt of Lewis. After a great deal of delibaration and reorganization, the route changed - and so did the wind! Despite that, Greig and Mike raised over £6000 for Mindroom.
