Pre-diagnosis: ‘So you think there may be something wrong?’

Particularly for parents, health visitors, nursery staff, primary school staff. When is behaviour potentially no longer neurotypical? What do we look for in order to identify potential difficulties as early as possible? What can we do if we think there may be a problem? (Allow 1-1.5 hours, including Q&A)

Post-diagnosis: ‘Now we have a label – what next?’

Particularly for parents, nursery and teaching staff. Can range from a very simple overview of the main learning difficulties and what to expect, to a detailed presentation for each individual learning difficulty. With particular reference to ADHD, Autistic Spectrum Disorder, Asperger syndrome, DAMP, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, Tourette syndrome. (Allow 1-1.5 hours, including Q&A. Or half-day for more detailed presentation)

Classroom strategies 

For teaching staff – best split into primary and secondary. (Allow 1-1.5 hours, including Q&A. Or half-day for more detailed presentation)

Home strategies

What parents and families can do at home. (Allow 1-1.5 hours, including Q&A. Or half-day for more detailed presentation)

Professionals

What does the title mean and what do they do? What professionals should be involved and how to contact them. (45 mins-1 hour)

Parent and family support

On an individual or group basis.

Managing challenging behaviour

Detailed presentations as appropriate to the client. (Allow 1-1.5 hours, or half-day depending on detail required)

Staff training and support

We will offer whatever is appropriate to an individual setting or request, and tailor the presentation to suit.

Communication problems and alternative communication systems

Appropriate for anyone involved with a child with communication problems. Tailor-made presentations offer information on expressive and receptive language development and difficulties, articulatory difficulties, verbal dyspraxia, sign language, picture exchange systems, and early technological aids for communication. (Allow 1-1.5 hour sessions)

Government-provided services and NHS vs the private route

Is there a realistic alternative to state education/NHS services? (45 mins-1 hour)

Holistic approach

Looking at the effects of diet and nutrition, vitamin supplements, fish oils, etc. (45 mins-1 hour)

 

All presentations are provided free of charge (travel expenses need to be covered) but donations are always welcome.
